Our village has a long history and has managed to retain a significant number of independent village shops too. In this post we’re going to focus on these smaller businesses which would be delighted to welcome you during your stay. My writeups below really don’t do these businesses justice so please do visit their websites for more details.
Born and Bread – run by Ali and Libby, Born and Bread is a superb artisan bakery and cafe at the heart of the village. We’ve been regular customers since they opened in 2018 and the handmade bread and cakes are beautiful. A delivery service has been introduced for orders made online and they’ve also opened a second shop and bakery in Daventry.
Pohutukawa Coffee Shop – Tricky to say but easy to visit, this family run business is a New Zealand inspired coffee shop and provides a wide selection of excellent coffee and food, they've got a fabulous menu on their website too. Pohutukawa is a popular meeting place in the village and well worth a visit.
Hamm Tun Fine Foods – A beautiful deli also acting as a shop front for our very own Northamptonshire cheese maker, Hamm Tun Fine Foods offers a wide variety of products from small independent suppliers. Chief cheese maker is Gary Bradshaw and his cheeses such as Cobblers Nibble and Northamptonshire Blue are well worth a try.
The Peephole – The Peephole offers an array of cards and gifts for all occasions. If you’re looking for something unique for a relative or friend, there’s a very good chance you’ll find it here.
Lovecats – A social shopping experience in the village where you’ll find something for everyone, from funky babywear for kids through to gents clothing too. Have a look at their Facebook feed for recent arrivals and the variety of clothes available.
Long Buckby Library and Hub – Our village library was threatened with closure in 2018 before a community group formed and took over the running of the building and services. Whilst these are primarily aimed at residents if you find yourself needing printing or a new book whilst staying with us the library might just be the place to look!
